Where we come from
The culture and values of Interogo Holding reflect the entrepreneurial spirit of the late Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA.
The Interogo Holding group was introduced in its independent form in 2016, however our roots go all the way back to 1989 and the founding of Interogo Foundation, our ultimate owner.

Our heritage and values
Our values are rooted in the Småland region of Sweden, where Ingvar Kamprad was born and grew up and IKEA was founded.
The stonewalls of Småland, the symbol of our heritage, were the result of hard work, commitment and togetherness. It was a heavy and tiring task to dig out and pick up the stones from the soil, but vitally necessary as it enabled the local people to cultivate the land. It was a lesson in the true value of working together.
Smålanders are known for being thrifty and innovative, with a straightforward and no-nonsense approach to problem-solving or business challenges. This ‘Småland’ legacy is built into our culture and values that impact the way we do business today. Learn more about our heritage

Our history
The Interogo Holding of today dates back to 1989 and is a result our entrepreneurial heritage, calling on us to never stand still, dare to be different and open to new ideas.
The shape, size and focus of the investment business has continuously and organically evolved, based on both opportunities and performance. Check out some of the milestones from our journey:
1989
The long-term perspective and “financial reserve”
Ingvar Kamprad (1926-2018), the founder of IKEA, had a true desire for his lifework and at an early stage wished to secure the independence and longevity of the IKEA Concept and the IKEA trademarks. To achieve this, he established the Inter IKEA Group in the 1980's and Interogo Foundation, in 1989.
The purpose of Interogo Foundation was set to: “secure the independence and the longevity of the IKEA Concept” and to “hold a financial reserve for rainy days for when the IKEA Concept at some time in the future were to face serious challenges”.

Real Estate team established
In 1989, as part of the Inter IKEA Group, our Real Estate team Vastint - short for “Vastgoed International” (Dutch for “International real estate”) - was also founded.
Starting off with acquisitions of existing portfolios, the team has since transformed into an international real estate owner and developer, that develops and maintains comfortable and sustainable living, working and leisure environments.
Vastint is active in large parts of Europe, and is headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

1994
Team for investing globally through funds, secondaries and co-investments
In 1994, the investment team within Inter IKEA Group expanded with a Interogo team for global investments through funds, secondaries and co-investments. The strategy is advised by IH International Advisors, with offices in London and New York.
The portfolio spans over 25 years of private markets exposure.

1998
A fund management business was established
Inter Fund Management (IFM) was established (as IKANO Fund Management) in 1998, but became part of our structure in 2013 and changed name to Inter Fund Management.
Today, IFM is an independent and entrepreneurial asset management firm and the regulated investment platform for all Interogo Holding advisory teams.
Besides managing the Infrastructure, Long-term Equity, International
and Nalka DACH investment portfolios, IFM is also managing liquid assets on behalf of Interogo Holding and Interogo Foundation. The portfolio mainly consists of investments in listed and non-listed securities.

2009
Direct investments in Nordic businesses
Founded as Inter IKEA Investments, we usually refer to 2009 as the founding year of Nalka Invest.
The Nalka team has offices in Stockholm, Sweden and Munich, Germany, investing in small- and medium-sized businesses in the Nordics (Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland) and the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

2016
Interogo Holding becomes a standalone investment business
In 2016, our owner, Interogo Foundation, decided to change the structure of the Inter IKEA Group and two separate groups were created - each with their own holding company, board and management.
Inter IKEA Holding B.V. in the Netherlands became the holding company of the IKEA-related businesses. Interogo Holding AG in Switzerland became the holding company of the investment businesses.
The change was made to enhance business focus and efficiency and to increase simplicity and transparency.
With this increased focus, the Interogo Holding organization and its investment business were well set-up for further growth and diversification.
2018
Long-Term Equity added as new strategy
The strategy is to acquire significant equity holdings in profitable and sustainable European companies that have strong market positions and where we see a positive potential for future performance.
The strategy includes listed, soon-to-be listed and private companies and the team, IH Long-Term Equity Advisors is based in Stockholm, Sweden.

2020
Infrastructure investments added as strategy
The strategy invests in infrastructure businesses providing long-term essential services to society, offering downside protection and predictable cash flows. The strategy is advised by the IH Infrastructure Advisors team, based in Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland.

2023
Demerger of our owner
In August 2023, Interogo Foundation demerged into two separate enterprise foundations.
The new Inter IKEA Foundation became the ultimate owner of Inter IKEA Holding BV, the IKEA related business. Interogo Foundation continued to be the ultimate owner of Interogo Holding AG. The purposes of the two enterprise foundations are identical, namely to secure independence and longevity of the IKEA Concept and the financial reserves needed to ensure this.
